Senior Electrical Engineer / Project Lead or Technical Lead

Position summary:

  • This person will play a critical role in defining electrical and embedded architectures and solutions for Moto projects.
  • He or she will serve either as a technical lead or project lead on some projects, and should be capable of managing teams of 3 to 10 engineers.
  • As Program Lead, this individual will work directly with clients to understand program requirements, translate them into specifications and designs, and to take responsibility for driving the development team and to be the primary point of contact with the client through development.
  • He/she will also support work with the Moto management team on program planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • This person will also help to define and support Moto’s standard electrical engineering processes as we continue to build our EE team and he/she will have a proven expertise with the span of EE-related product development: requirements documents, architecture and design, development, test and debug, prototyping, DFM, working with ODMs and CMs, environmental testing and agency approval, and ramp. This individual will have shipped numerous products.
  • This individual will also have responsibilities for mentoring junior engineers.
  • The ideal candidate will also have experience with many of the following:
    • High speed digital
    • RF communications (Bluetooth, Zigbee, Wibree, WiFi, other)
    • Digital cameras (still, video)
    • Analog systems (power supplies, rechargeable batteries, audio, RFID)
    • Serial interfaces: USB, I2S, SPI, CAN, PCI, SDA, etc.
    • Touch screens (capacitive and resistive), inertial, acoustic, optical, and other sensors
    • Agency approval process
    • Processors: 8/16/32 bit – DSP, OMP, ARM, MSP430, AVR, PIC, 8051, etc.
    • Tools: Orcad, PADS, Verilog, Protel, Allegro, etc.
    • Firmware development: C and assembly, on myriad platforms
  • Some willingness/desire to travel.
  • 10+ years of experience
Background:

BSEE or equivalent with minimum of 10 years software development experience and 3 years project management experience required in some of the following disciplines: input devices, networking, wireless communications, video, audio, manufacturing support, agency testing. Need to have experience with the complete product life cycle (including having shipped a product) and general interests in a broad range of technologies and projects. Must be organized and have good written and oral communication skills. Experience working with offshore teams a plus.
