Assistive TechnologyGemini Computer™Gemini computer is Assistive Technologies'(ATI) second generation augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) product. This breakthrough product capitalizes on ATI's access to Apple iBook technology and is viewed as an affordable yet cutting edge addition to the assistive market. MOTO played a key role in ATI's startup in 1995 and also developed the electronics solution for the first generation Freestyle product. For Gemini, ATI expanded MOTO's involvement to the development of the entire Gemini product. MOTO's solution emphasized the re-use of existing engineering in the iBook. Electronics features were added through a daughter card with a USB hub, touchscreen controller and an amplifier with a minimum of connection points to the motherboard. Gemini's appearance maintains echoes of the award winning Apple iBook industrial design while emphasizing a reliable and manufacturable solution suited to ATI's requirement to support low volume production. The resulting Gemini product successfully integrates design and engineering to deliver an AAC solution which raises the bar of performance and appearance for the industry. 2001
