Zune HD is the next iteration of Microsoft's Zune device family and brings a new level of listening and viewing experiences to the portable media player category. It's the first portable media player that combines an OLED touch screen, a built-in HD Radio receiver, high-definition video output, Wi-Fi, and an Internet browser. Adding multitouch interface, accelerometer, and 3D graphics makes Zune a compelling handheld multimedia and gaming experience.
Microsoft turned to MOTO, their partner on previous Zune models, to help develop the advanced touch-screen technology. Collaborating closely with the user-experience and software teams, the team created a prototype platform that allowed developers to experience and explore the possibilities of the gestural user interface. The team documented the control algorithms and then created white papers that served as implementation guides for the software development teams, ensuring a consistent experience across all applications.
