Product DevelopmentWith the kickoff of production development the team is refocused from open conceptual definition to meeting development timelines and costs. Development efforts at MOTO are led by a project manager and a senior technical lead, each with extensive product development experience. Development teams consist of both personnel from MOTO’s US and Asian technical teams and personnel from technical solution providers, creative studios, and ODM/JDM solution providers.Team makeup varies greatly from program to program depending on the business, product and technical requirements from a single program manager to a large technical team. Additionally, the development teams typically evolves from the initial critical focus on hardware and mechanical to the usual focus on features / functionality and firmware / software. MOTO's technical development process is focused on maximizing the effectiveness
of what is usually a physically diverse team through clear product requirements
and technical architecture documents as well as online team collaboration
tools. These tools are supplemented with regular conferences covering
both status review and technical review. These communications are supplemented
with regular coordination meetings. Overall process if focused on complete
prototypes. These prototypes provide focus for team activities are force
the discovery and resolution of technical challenges throughout the development
